Jack Gives Back: A Day with The Bowery Mission
A well-curated wardrobe is all about versatility and timeless style. Whether you’re updating your closet or starting fresh.
This year's offsite took the whole crew to The Bowery Mission in New York City. Here's how we spent the day, and why it matters to us.
Last week, the whole Jack Archer crew stepped away from the laptops for our company offsite. It's the one time each year we get everyone in the same room to look up from the day-to-day and plan for what's next.
We build every offsite around three things: something for the company, something for ourselves, and something for our community. The first two are easy to fill. The third is the one we're most proud of, and this year it took us to The Bowery Mission in New York City.
Why we started Jack Gives Back
This year we launched Jack Gives Back, and it's become one of the things we're proudest of as a team. The idea behind it is simple: if you're privileged enough to be building a business, you should also be building your community.
We make clothes for guys who show up, for their work, their friends, their families. Jack Gives Back is how we show up too. Not as a line in a press release, but with our sleeves rolled up.

Meet The Bowery Mission

The Bowery Mission has been serving New Yorkers since 1879, making it one of the oldest rescue missions in the country. Behind its famous red doors at 227 Bowery, it has spent nearly 150 years meeting people exactly where they are.
Today, across multiple campuses in New York City, the Mission provides hot meals, overnight shelter, clothing, emergency showers and residential programs that help people rebuild their lives. It also runs year-round programs for kids in East Harlem and the South Bronx. In a typical year, that adds up to hundreds of thousands of meals and tens of thousands of nights of safe shelter.
Their mission, in their own words, is to "promote the flourishing of New Yorkers overcoming homelessness and marginalization by providing compassionate services and transformative community."
What we got up to
We split into teams and got to work on three things the Mission relies on every single day:
-
Personal care kits. Toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, deodorant and the basics most of us never think twice about, packed so they're ready to hand to someone who needs them.
-
Food supplies. Gathering and packing food to help keep the Mission's kitchens running and its tables full.
-
Clothing. Sorting, folding and packaging clothes so guests can walk out with something warm, clean and theirs.

Thank you, Bowery Mission
To everyone at The Bowery Mission: thank you for letting us be part of your day, and for the work you do every other day of the year. We're grateful for what you do, and we hope our donations help in some small way.
If you're in New York and want to help, The Bowery Mission welcomes volunteers and donations year-round.
Jack Archer. Ready When You Are.
